A Primetime Psychology Experiment: Does TV Affect Behavior?

The topic of this article is if Tv affects behavior.

I found this article on the discovery magazine website.

Researchers Elizabeth L. Paluck and others partnered with a TV network to insert certain themes  into popular dramas shown on US TV. They then looked to see whether these themes had an effect on real world behavior, ranging from Google searches to drunk-driving arrests. The study was based on three prime time Spanish-language dramas which have views of around 1.2 million people per week.

I personally think that TV does affect behaviors. Now-a-days  parents put their kids in front of TV’s to “shut their kids up”. So when they watch cartoons that could have bad behavior in it, their mind will start doing the things the cartoon characters do. Little kids growing up watching TV all the time can form their mind to do stupid things. For example, some parents won’t let their kids watch spongebob because the way he acts on the show.

This article impacts the world by Tv affecting all people. If you watch TV to much, you could get lazy and fat. If you allow your kids to watch to much, as they grow up, they will start acting as what they see. It goes to example, if you watch to much, your brain will be altered, and think its ok to do some of the stuff cartoon characters do.  Therefor, Tv does affect behaviors in today’s world.
